Any mineral which is in the oxide form, including magnesium oxide is poorly absorbed. The glycinate form of minerals are readily absorbed and do their job. Magnesium Glycinate is the one I take.

Unfortuantely, physicians are not well trained in nutrition and write scripts for the oxide forms.
